Raitex weed control fabric is a hard wearing polyester product that is used to cover beds and borders to prevent weed germination. This product allows water through but prevents weeds from germinating. When mulch mats are used on newly planted borders the rate of growth from these plants will be twice that of plants planted without the weed control fabric. This is due to the roots being kept cooler, less chance of the plants suffering from lack of water because it does not evaporate from the surface and the plants do not have to compete with the weeds. This product should have bark or stones covering it for decoration.
